Several bus routes linking Islington with the Barbican & St Paul’s, including a crucial link to the Whittington Hospital, face cuts or will be cancelled completely according to plans announced by the Labour Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, in response to the Conservative government’s failure to properly fund TfL.
One of the routes facing the axe is the Number 4 bus which runs north to south through the borough. This will mean 3,330 daily journeys are broken, one-third of them made by younger, older or disabled passengers. Regular bus services are essential, especially when so many of Islington’s stations are not fully accessible. They also help reduce the number of cars on our roads.
